Rutherford Technology High School English teacher, Andrew Rutherford, is the recipient of the prestigious Excellence in the Integration of Communication and Technologies Award 2008 – awarded by NSW Department of Education and Training. Andrew received his Award from NSW Minister of Education, Verity Firth, at a ceremony at the NSW Department of Education and Training offices at Bridge Street, Sydney on Friday 7 November 08.
The Excellence in the Integration of Information and Communication Technologies Award recognises those teachers at the forefront of incorporating Information and Communication Technologies in teaching and learning. It promotes and publicises the use of best practice in technology in classrooms in NSW government schools and reinforces the commitment to make quality learning and teaching the central focus of every classroom.
Andrew was instrumental in establishing the “Connected Classroom” technology at the school, allowing students to link in to classrooms across Australia, with the added facility of connecting to venues worldwide, including a link up with the NASA Space Station in Houston, Texas that took place earlier this year.
