Title

RUTHERFORD PROGRESSES THROUGH BUCKLEY SHIELD

Body

Rutherford had a resounding 20-4 win in Round 4 of the Buckley Shield against Whitebridge High School on Friday 27 June 08, progressing to the final 16 of the State Knockout.
The Rutherford team now go forward to play Warialda in the next round (tentatively scheduled for Wednesday 23 July 08 at Maitland – to be confirmed).
The Buckley Shield is a NSW High Schools state-wide knock out competition for under 14 year old boys, with over 200 NSW Secondary Schools participating for both the Buckley Shield and the Buckley Plate each year.
The Rutherford team made it all the way to the Finals in 2007 and are looking to repeat that achievement and hopefully take out the 2008 Buckley Shield.
Coach Paul Johns said  “All players in the team should be proud of the way they are playing at the present time.  The pressure is really on at this level of the game and the boys are demonstrating great team work, capitalising on the work put in during training”.
