Pegasus Scholarships

Body

Rutherford Technology High School is delighted to have 5 students from Year 11 who have been awarded a two year Vocational Education and Training (VET) Scholarship valued at $4,200 per student.  This scholarship is made possible by the support of the Coal and Allied Community Trust in partnership with Pegasus Training Pty Ltd.
The five students will continue their VET studies at Rutherford Technology  High School to the end of Year 12, and at the same time undertake work placements relative to their studies.
The advantage of this program is that students receive an incentive to stay at school to the end of Year 12 and receive their HSC, whilst employers are able to source potential apprentices for the future who are site oriented with AQF Certificate II credentials.  Most importantly the students receive real work skills beyond the syllabus requirements where many will move to a Certificate III level.  The financial incentive provides additional education to assist in maturity and aid in the smooth transition from school to work.
Principal Paul Tracey says “These scholarships provide an ideal means for students undertaking VET courses to continue at school and at the same time get meaningful work experience and also receive payment”.  “We are delighted to have 5 students who have been awarded a scholarship and see this as industry value adding to our students’ education”.
