RTHS STUDENT WINS AUSTRALIAN VOCATIONAL TRAINING AWARD

Rutherford Technology High School Year 12 student Dean Posavec has been announced as the recipient of an Australian Vocational Student Prize.  This prize is one of 442 awarded across Australia and is awarded to exceptional students in the Vocational Education and Training Schools program.   Dean will receive a certificate and $2,000.

Currently undertaking a School Based Traineeship in Hospitality Operations Dean combines vocational training with school studies which will result in his achieving a Certificate II in Hospitality at the same time as gaining HSC qualifications.  

As part of his training Dean works at Mansfield Function Centre in Maitland  under the direction of John Murphy.  This hands on element of his training  is invaluable in gaining experience that can be combined with the theoretical component taught at the school.

Dean is an outstanding young man who has worked hard, balancing school studies and the required work component , in order to achieve his career goal.

Principal Paul Tracey says ”We are absolutely delighted that Dean has been awarded this prize.  He is a hard working young man who has undertaken a School Based Traineeship in combination with HSC studies and is now being recognised for his efforts”.
